Unique ID

If I download the ROM from my Palm V, and then re-burn the rom with the same
thing I downloaded, will the unique ID of the Palm be included ?  Will this
reset the unique ID ?

Are there other eays to reset or change the unique ID ?  Someone said there
was something on Palm Gear at some point, but I cannot find anything.

I haven't been able to separate my Palm V and Palm VII from being the same
devices on the Palm Dekstop and this is causing me some problems.
