Here is the answer I got on comp.sys.palmtops.pilot if anyone cares:
There is a UserName and UserID that are used to identify the devices for
syncing. These are not the same as the ROM ID on the Info screen. You can
display the UserName and ID by using the .4 shortcut.
Since both devices now have the same UserName and ID you will need to hard
reset one of them to get it to sync with the new profile.
Or use a freeware program called PalmName to change the UserName and UserID
on one of the devices. It has a better explanation of the above in its
documentation. You can find it at PalmGear.com.
