it all depends on what program you wish to "view" the image on the
palm with. :) if you write your own program, then normally you must
do some manipulation of the data files yourself, or take on an
existing format.

run length encoding normally works well :)
in my latest project, i have managed to compress a 2432x1920 grayscale
image down to 50K :) which i personally think is quite impressive :)
