Image viewer and compression of data

Hi All

Can anyone Pl. tell me where can I find the source code to convert BMP,JPEG,
GIF files into
pdb format  and view them on palm.

I also want to know if there is any standard compression method to compress
the data files to be stored on Palm. if no, pl. suggest the best compression
method to be used and where it will be available.
