Have you contacted TRG?  They say they do custom configurations, for the
right quantities and prices, of course.  At the TRGpro session at
PalmSource, I _think_ the guy said something about even being able to build
them with custom hardware inside, which may support your security scheme.
(But don't quote me on that, I'm only vaguely recalling the session.)

Or a lower tech solution: just install a stand-alone security device in the
internal expansion cavity in the Palm IIIx, if it would fit.  It wouldn't
interface with the Palm itself, but the would-be thief would have to
disassemble the unit to take it out.

Or if the Palm IIIe has the same (but non functional) internal expansion
cavity as the IIIx, then do this with the IIIe for less money.
