>Is this happening? Does anyone have experience working with phone.com's

I heard somewhere that the reason Palm licensed the WAP browser was
primarily to accomodate their smartphone licensees that may need WAP
browsing. After all, WAP is pretty much a de facto standard for content
delivery to wireless phones, but not much else. I would be very surprised
if Palm creates a generic port of the WAP browser that is available, say
embedded in ROM, on all Palm devices.

As the press release says: "Palm will license the industry-leading Palm
Computing platform with integrated WAP capability to wireless handset
manufacturers to develop devices that deliver superior usability,
connectivity, and immediate, reliable access to information for business
customers and consumers. ""

In this case, the word "integrated" doesn't necessarily mean _really_
integrated, like, say, the Address Book is integrated. Besides, licensees
are free to bundle whatever parts of the OS and standard built-in apps they
want.
