Nearly.  The main (only?) difference is that ours have a one-pixel wide
vertical column of blank pixels on the right of each character, for
spacing, so that each character can be drawn as a single copy operation,
with the next one right next to it.

The Mac draws a character, clears the pixels to its right, draws the next
character, etc.  Less efficient.
