Shortcut-dot-5, one of the programmers shortcuts, will delete the current user name. You can then set it when you do the next HotSync.
By programmer's shortcuts I mean the shortcut-dot-number things. e.g.
enter the shortcut character (looks like the AIDS ribbon loop), enter a
period (tap twice), and then write the graffiti stroke for the number 6.
That's shortcut-dot-6, and it will tell you the date the ROM was built.
shortcut-dot-1 drops you into the debugger
shortcut-dot-2 opens the serial port for the PalmDebugger console commands
shortcut-dot-3 disables sleep-when-idle (auto off)
shortcut-dot-4 displays some sync related stuff
shortcut-dot-5 zaps the sync user name
shortcut-dot-6 gives ROM build date
shortcut-dot-7 messes with the battery manager tables
shortcut-dot-8 toggles invert-with-backlight mode on the Palm V
By zapping the hotsync user name, it means the next sync you do will be a
'slow' sync, but it also means you'll get to choose the Palm user from the
desktop again.
There are also shortcut-dot-s, shortcut-dot-t, and shortcut-dot-i, which do
special things to the exchange manager. (s = toggle between serial and IR,
t = toggle between loopback(test) and external, and i = receive even if IR
is currently off.)
You should reset after messing with any/all of these shortcuts. A reset
puts the device back in the 'normal' state, and ensures that the serial
port is closed, etc. (The only thing a reset DOESN'T recover is the
hotsync user name!)
