I know with experience in other debugging cases -- you usually have
to pass the executable you are running a '-debug' flag of some sort.
I have not read the docs or anything about conduits, but thought
maybe this might help, or lead to a solution you missed in the docs
or something.

decided to justinsert a bunch of debug statements that would print
