Not a single line of crack-protection code will benefit your loyal end
users. The more complex the protection scheme is, the more error-prone and
the more support calls you will get. Think of setup issues, reg-code
problems, flash rom problems, backup problems etc.
It might be intellectually challenging to fight against crackers but why not
better put all programming effort into writing bug-free easy-to-use great
applications. This will attract more customers and eventually generate much
more revenue than the (IMHO) neglectible part that is lost to users of
cracked versions.
Try look at it this way: You can become the biggest software company (and
the richest man) in the world without _any_ copy protection at all. You can
even base your serial numbers on a simple modulo scheme...
