Oh, I get it now -- an App Icon Family consists of multiple regular Bitmaps,
not Icons or Multibit Icons. I was trying to create my color icon in the
Multibit Icon editor, which doesn't support colors. Never mind!
But now a problem: I've now created my mono+gray+color icon family using the
new Mac Constructor. All 3 icon depths look perfect when built on Mac and
run on POSE on Mac.
But then I simply transferred the .rsrc file (via floppy) to my Windows NT
machine (running the latest SDK and tools) and linked it into my app, and
the colors became all screwed up in the 2-bit and 8-bit icons.
It's _not_ caused by the broken bitmap editor, because I'm not modifying the
.rsrc file on the PC in any way, but just linking it into my app. However,
the bitmaps do look right when viewed in the broken editor. (Except the B&W
icon, which is totally trashed in the broken editor, but which does look
correct when run.)
So it seems like the PalmRez post linker is scrambling the colors when
building the final icon. My PalmRezPostLinker.dll is dated 1/12/00.
I should mention, the two depths that are getting messed up (2-bit and
8-bit) use transparency, while the depth that does work (1-bit) does not use
transparency. And the effect seen on screen is purely a color error, where
the icon glyph is correct but every color (or gray) has been changed into
some other bogus color.
Is this a known bug?
