I can send you a nice narrow column formatter we did for a client. It
would only take a few minutes to port to PalmOS, but how would I know
you actually ate your hat? <grin>
Seriously, the tips could be greatly improved just by adding special
characters to the 'space test' that is currently used. Example:
for detailed info
see
www.someplace.com
Could be:
for detailed info
see www.someplace.
com
Or
Select
Menu/Options/Prefs
Could be
Select Menu/Options/
Preferences to...
Back to the topic point...
What happens when you start replacing resources and then run on a
far-eastern unit? Example, you force a new font for tips that does not
contain the proper characters. You might think, no problem, my app is
English, if I localize, I'll correct... But, anything your app does
which invokes a system produced dialog gives the user a chance to bring
up broken 'tips', since your replacement resources are still first in
the search order.
Maybe, but these sort of unforeseen bugs tend to crop up when you muck
with an OS.
