Not to mention it's really convenient to be able to 'emulate' future
hardware.  For example, the "Color Device" emulation let us get color
support working in the OS before anyone had anything resembling actual
color hardware, and it lets you update your apps before any hardware hits
the market.

If you're a licensee designing new hardware, it's pretty cool to be able to
grab the (free, public) Poser sources, tweak it to emulate the new
hardware, and then write your drivers or whatever and debug them on the
Emulator.  You can do that long before you've even finalized the hardware
designs...

P.S.  What does this have to do with the IPO?

P.P.S.  I notice 3Com is suddenly trading in the low 60's, almost twice
what it was at only 6 months ago.  Do you think the market is starting to
take the future value of Palm shares into account?  :-)
