I am trying to figure what the best "environment" set up is that people are
using for the GNU tool set. I recently downloaded the PRC tools, the latest
SDK (v. 3.5), POSE (and ROM), PilRC and Cygnus. While I think I understand
how all the tools work together, I have had a difficult time debugging code
because error messages fly by at the speed of light, and I am unable to
redirect them to a file. It appears that GCC does not output to stdout.
Also, when I try to use the make utility with Cygnus, it barfs because I
edit the makefile with edit.com which converts tabs to spaces. How do you
get around these problems, and what do you recommend for setting up an
optimal working "environment" using the GNU tools? Also, is anyone using
Cygnus for more than the .dll required for PRC tools? It is taking up 14MB
of space, and I haven't figured out what value it brings. Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
