I wrote a big chunk of the RF driver for the Symbol SPT1740. Symbol gets
excellent support from 3Com, which was really nice and I think makes the
1740 venture a successful one. 3Com bent over backwards to help with PalmOS
oddness, resolving really ugly Netlib bugs, and making OS tweaks here and
there when they were justified.
Furthermore, Symbol was willing to make changes to the 1740 driver for its
(larger) clients. From my perspective, Symbol would be very flexible to
work with on 1740 projects. I am biased though, I was on the receiving end
of feature requests. :)
