Have you considered just having the Palm device running your software to be placed in
a locked case and then handed over for the
drive test? One of our customers is using our Datastick MyCorder w/ a Palm IIIe
inside an Otter Box. They then drilled a hole in
the case for the sensor cables and sealed it with silicone gel. To prevent
"tampering" they then bolted on a small lock latch. To
literally lock out the user during the drive test, they used a small padlock of the
type used on handgun carrying cases. This kept
the drivers from "playing with the new toy." The whole thing cost about $25 in parts
and a half hour of time.
Pretty much what you want to do is turn an open systems into a closed system for
propietary use. This goes against the entire Zen
of Palm. However, there are ways to handle this literally "out of the box" as I
described.
