Could it be the lowBatteryChr sucking up ticks? If I remember correctly,
the battery level is polled by the OS. One of the parameters to
SysBatteryInfo is maxTicksP which is the max amount of ticks the OS will go
before generating a lowBatteryChr (in order to test the voltage level). Is
it possible the OS is decreasing the time between checks as the battery
level falls?
Rechargeable batteries sometimes have a rapid drop-off rate towards the end
of a charge. Maybe the characteristics of the IIIc's battery require more
frequent checks as the level drops.
