That information is actually a bit hard to find so I will briefly summarize
my experience..
To do trading with PQA (Web clipping) use either a Palm VII or a Palm V/Vx
with Omnisky service; though it is only rumor that SSL works via Omnisky at
this time. The SSL PQAs don't work on my Minstrel III setup so I can't try
out how well the snake trader or the Ajaxo services work.

To use a Web browser, you can rough it with a Minstrel III or other wireless
modem (Omnisky's Minstrel V package) but it depends on how accessible your
brokerage's Web site is to small screens. For example; DLJDirect has a
specific wireless.dljdirect.com site that works very well. But ETarde (my
affectionate name) is bitmap city and I haven't been able to select different
options. You will end up being very frustrated if you don't try it out
beforehand. My choice was using ProxiWeb because at the time it was the only
browser that supported SSL, but I've been trying out the new GoAmerica GoWeb
browser and it is very very nice and supports SSL.

Another option is to use a proprietary wireless application such as Morgan
Stanley Dean Witter's TradeRunner Palm application. It costs like an
additional $13/month or something like that. I have an account with them but
they are just too high on commissions so I decided not to even try the
wireless at all.

What I've finally decided on is to use a service called w-trade. If you have
an account with a participating brokerage you can use a piece of Palm
software or you can also use certain cellphones and the RIM950 2way pager.
They have a simple demo on their site and it looks pretty straight forward in
that you can set it up for alerts and it will give you the ability to make
trades with a couple of buttons. Mine isn't set up yet (Dreyfus lost my
application but so did two other brokerages so don't hold that against them)
so I can't validate how well it works.

If you are serious about wireless you will need to check probably the most
important part, and that is RECEPTION! My area's CDPD is pathetic and I
spend all day waving my Minstrel up and down and parking it in radio vortexes
throughout the house and I figure that most people wouldn't put up with that.
OTOH if you have good reception (as I did in Maryland) it is very convenient
and only a bit of a bother to wait a few seconds for connect/disconnect.
I decided that I also needed something else so I just got a RIM950 pager.
Now this is probably the coolest thing I've ever played with. The features
are a bit sparse without extra software, but if you get it from GoAmerica
they pre-install the GoWeb browser and unlimited usage is included in your
monthly fee ($59/month unlimited). The reception of Mobitex is fantastic
here and it is just too cool to click on a link, then holster the pager and
feel the buzz when the page is done loading. Ha! Plus the pager is
connected to the network all the time and therefore gets emails without you
having to touch anything. So just set up one of your accounts to email you
alerts and it will buzz, or get the w-trade software which I haven't tried
yet.

Getting back to development.. The RIM950 also has a free SDK and I hope to
write a couple of programs for it. Could really use some basic stuff like
todo and memo. But I would settle for some more readable fonts! Too bad
they don't have a developer base like Palm because the RIM is a pretty neato
device even by Palm standards. Sorry about putting this in a developer's
forum, I really thought I could make my point in like 2 or 3 lines of code.
