Done and done.
Use the Omni remote software, but you have to add an IR booster since
standard IRDA emitters are not powerful enough. (Unless you sit within 3
feet of your TV)
You can/will be able to access the internet with an Apple Airport access
point. The Symbol 1740 ships with a Spectrum24 card. Their new 11mbs card
is 802.11 compatible. Last I heard, the faster card will be/is an optional
upgrade. (plus there is a 802.11 Springboard module working somewhere,
Xircom maybe?)
So if you use your 1740 to browse the internet on your Airport wireless
network while changing channels and eating Cheesy Poof or Snaky Cakes, you
can always wipe down the unit when your done since its splash-proof! And
don't worry about it falling off the coffee table or kitchen counter, its
6ft drop proof too. (plus your cats will have a ball chasing the laser beam
in pointer mode)
