Hi Akshay,

The concept of categories within a Palm Database is very simply. Each record
can be assoiciated with a catagory regardless of the contents of the record.
The database can then be viewed so that only records from a certain category
are displayed. The example of an address book database: You could partition
the database into Personal entries, Business entries, School entries and so
on using catagories. Then accessing the records using the catagory filter
will allow you see only those records.

Hope this helps

Neil.

Subject: What are database categories?

Hi.

I was wondering if someone could help me through a conceptual difficulty I'm
having understanding database categories. So, supposing I want to create an
address-book database for which I want to be able to enter distinct "names"
and "addresses" for x number of my contacts. Would my database then contain
two categories i.e. "name" and "address"? Or is categories equal to the
total number of contacts I can have in the address book. Would appreciate
any advice. Thanks.

regards,
