You can merge CW for Palm 6 with CW for Mac 5.2. Palm 6 doesn't currently
work with the 5.3 IDE, so that may be causing some of your problems. Here
are the steps for merging the Palm tools with the Pro tools on a Mac:

1. Install CW Pro 5 first. You must install the original CW Pro 5 from the
CD.
2. Copy the following folders from the CW for Palm R6 CD into your
CodeWarrior Pro 5 folder (the same level as the Metrowerks CodeWarrior
folder):
        Palm OS Constructor
        PQA Builder
3. Copy the following folders and components from the CW for Palm R6 CD into
your CodeWarrior Pro 5:Metrowerks CodeWarrior folder:
        Palm OS 3.1 Support
        Palm VII Support
        Symbol SDK Support (if needed)
(Project Stationery):Palm OS 3.1 (English) into (Project
Stationery):
(Project Stationery):Palm OS 3.1 (Japan) into (Project Stationery):
(Project Stationery):Palm VII into (Project Stationery):
        CodeWarrior Plugins:Debugger:PalmPlugin into CodeWarrior
Plugins:Debugger:
CodeWarrior Plugins:Linker:PalmRez Post Linker into CodeWarrior
Plugins:Linker:
        CodeWarrior Plugins:Preference Panel:Palm Connection into
CodeWarrior Plugins:Preference Panel
CodeWarrior Plugins:Preference Panel:PalmRez Panel into CodeWarrior
Plugins:Preference Panel
4. At this point, you may want to download and install the CW Pro 5.2 patch
and install it
You should then rebuild the Palm OS Support precompiled headers:
Palm OS 3.1 Support/Incs/Precompiled/PalmOSHeaders.mcp (rebuild all
targets)
Palm OS 3.1 Support/Incs/Precompiled/PalmSimHeaders.mcp (rebuild all
targets)
        Palm VII Support/Incs/Precompiled/PalmOSHeaders.mcp
        Palm VII Support/Incs/Precompiled/PalmSimHeaders.mcp

I hope this helps with your merger.

Good try, but no joy.

It is probably something else I have installed somewhere. :-(

Anyone know if you can merge a CWPalm 6.0 with a CWPro 5.3 on a Macintosh? I
saw the earlier postings saying no, but it wasnt clear if that was on a
Windows machine or a Mac or both. I started with a CW Pro 5.3 and merged
the CWPalm 6 into it, and it seemed to work - except for the crashing after
debugging. So, I did a parallel CW Pro 5.0 install and merged the CWPalm
into it - same symptoms.

Unless I hear otherwise I think I will go back to the first setup with 5.3/6
merged

Frank,

Go into your system folder:Preferences:Metrowerks, and delete the two
folders labeled CW Debugging Cache and CW Autosave. This should correct
your repeated crashing.

Probably not related, but I am experiencing repeatable frequent crashes
following every debug session using CW R6 with CW Pro 5.0, 5.2, and/or 5.3
on a Macintosh Powerbook G3/400.

I just upgraded:
CW R5 on WinNT -> CW R6 on Win2000

I am having tremendous problems with the debugger,
I have tried three separate ( all clean ) installs of Win2000:

1) It caused the IDE to hang when debugging an application
(For the second time only, first time was OK).
I fixed this by modifying debugger settings.

2) It crashes the IDE if I forget to kill the application
   before closing the debugger.
   Unresolved.

3) It causes the debugger to hang on breakpoints, instead of
displaying the stack, rendering the debugger essentially
useless. Exiting CW and and reopening it causes the debugger
to behave correctly for a minute or two, then it happens again.

If anyone has similar troubles, i would be glad to
hear some hints or something.

ps. Am I not correct in thinking that Palm has taken over the
support for CodeWarrior. If not, i would appreciate a pointer
to the right channels

Thanks and regards,

Magnus Torfason
