I'm not sure, but I think the IIIc screen is rotated so that the RGB
sub-pixels go from top to bottom (or vice versa) rather than from left to
right (or vice versa). If so, this would make sub-pixel rendering useful for
nearly horizontal lines rather than for nearly vertical lines, reducing it's
usefulness for text.
It is a cool technology and I think a doc reader would be a good application
for it because performance and memory consumption shouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone looked at a close-up of the IIIc screen?
