The closest equivalent that the Palm has to a TSR is
hooking an OS "trap". It's kind of similar to hooking
a DOS interrupt. There is a standard for doing
this that was developed early on, in order to prevent
the recurrance of the old DOS "INT 9 wars" when
every TSR in the world wanted to hook into the
keyboard interrupt and kept reasserting itself there
when something else placed itself in the handler chain.
This standard is called "HackMaster". This is the
basis for all the little programs commonly called
"hacks" on the Palm. A "hack" is actually a very
specific term for the Palm, not just a cute little
program the way it is elsewhere.
