Transputers, over 10 years ago, had pre-emptive multitasking,
and microsecond task switch times, in microcode.

Todays processors, though faster, have not yet achieved its elegance.

One of the things that killed it, besides poor marketing and
underspending, was no virtual memory capability.

We are back in an age where we do not care any more ..
