You do have any rom exensions running on the Vx, like FlashPro or hackmaster
etc.
I also had the same problem wiht my Palm III, and eventually had to use my
friends Palm to copy the rom out.

Subject: Palm OS Emulator problems with download ROM file from Palm Vx
This is the first time that I have tried to use the Palm emulator. I
download the Rom image from my Palm Vx as in instructions said, but when I
run the emulator I get a Palm OS Emulator dialog box telling me that the
current app has just performed an illegal operation. It performed a "Bus
error".
Im I doing something wrong ?? or is there a known problem here.
