Hi All,
I'm trying to connect a Palm(IIIxe) device to the PC using its serial port
and do a ping operation. My current settings on Palm:
Service: Windows RAS
Username: My PC username
Password: assinged
Connection: Direct Serial
And in the Details Menu Connection Type: SLIP Query DNS: none( have no
DNS )
IP address: assigned
On my desktop I am running Win RAS using the same com port connected with
the palm.But I am not able to ping the Palm from the PC. But the strange
thing is that when I press "connect" button on palm I get the dialog box
which says "Established" and the button turns to "disconnect"( surprisingly
it happens everytime whether cable is connected or not). If I do a ping from
my PC, the request always fails. So I am not sure what is going worng with
the connection/ settings. Is it possible to connect palm with a PC using
serial port and if yes, what are the tips to do that.
Note: WIth SLIP connection type, the connection is established even if the
Windows RAS is not running on the COM port.
