re: "you just don't do that" Look, I know that what I want to do is "bad form". It is not something that I would generally do or even want to do.
But this is not "all of my programs". This is not a "general use" application. This is a particular application for a particular client for a very specific usage scenario. Basically, the device has to act like there are only two Palm applications on the device: this application and HotSync. So I only let the user exit from the application when they indicate that they want to sync. And then I send them to the HotSync application (SysUIAppAwitch). The issue is how to ensure that they can only switch back to my application. I've programmed the 4 hard keys, and I can trap pen strokes on the silkscreen buttons via the pen stroke notification.
