Public reaction seems to the Pre seems to be very positive. I might get one myself, because I am allergic to Apple sauce, and I want to see what all the fuss is about. I am still slumming it on a Treo 650 at the moment. But according to the info that Palm has just posted on the PDN, it does not look like it is going to be backward compatible with Palm OS.
Will I develop for it? Maybe. It looks like an interesting environment. I am a big fan of JavaScript, and I already use CSS. But I am not going to try to port my existing app. I would want to develop something with the same look and feel as other WebOS apps. As far as I am concerned, Palm OS is now officially dead. Let us face it chaps, we are dinosaurs. -----Original Message----- From: Edward Jones [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 09 January 2009 08:19 To: Palm Developer Forum Subject: Palm webOS makes its appearance So this is "Nova" then? Except that it is now of course called "Palm webOS"... http://www.palminfocenter.com/news/9666/palm-announces-the-palm-webos/ Some interesting videos on this website (and no doubt elsewhere) but the ONE thing that is not mentioned is compatibility with the Palm OS Garnet which I would of thought would be fairly fundamental...
