Lionscribe, you sound like you're trying to turn a discusiion on Palm into a
political flame war. That is the method of mailing list trolls. Way to go
making this political and destroying any hope of a rational discussion.
In a more rational response:
Palm has laid off on forcing the users to update (after the first uproar about
it) so check your facts. And even if they do this, is this such a bad thing?
Dmitry's whole business (which I respect greatly) is on 'fixing PalmOS one app
at a time' or something (it was his 1src sig at one point), and is it so wrong
for Palm to actually do this themselves? I mean, shit, many PalmOS users
moaned and complained about even having to user Dmitry's apps, because they
viewed Palm as irresponsible and abandoning the platform. So, grow the hell up
and make up your freaking mind.
As for 'socialism,' progress != socialism, imo, though in some cases socialism
can create progress. That, however, is not the topic of this forum.
YOu have to remember that not only does Palm have to keep its users happy, it
has to keep its providers happy as well. Unhappy Sprint == Unhappy Palm. It
sucks, but that's how things are in the world of cellphones, where companies
believe that they are still Ma Bell (which is, imo, the farthest thing from a
'socialist' situation; Ma Bell was capitalism at its worst.)
Please keep political discussion off of this board as it has nothing to do
with the topic. Or take it to private email if you must.
