Hi David,

Authentication is negotiated during LCP negotiation. Either side can request
(or insist on) PAP or CHAP authentication. Or neither side can ask for
authentication.

The Palm won't ask the PPP server for a username/password, but the PPP server
can (optionally) ask the Palm for a username and password. In one case the
PPP server does, the second time it doesn't. This makes me think that the
Palm is authentication to 2 different PPP servers.
