Aha, you should have said so.  Check the auto-off time.  The thing is,
you're not going to be doing "behind the scenes processing" while the
Palm is in sleep mode...but you can get or set the value of the 
auto-off time, SysSetAutoOffTime (UInt16 seconds) or 
PrefGetPreference(prefAutoOffDurationSecs), and work from there.
