Sorry about the confusion. The problem was emulator related. I think i
figured it out. For some reason all the COM port settings were reset and
refused to stay as the COM port I needed to use. That was the first thing I
checked, and they were set to none. So i reset it to my proper COM port,
COM 1. It still didn't work. I tried all the other COM ports, and they
didn't work either. So i returned it to COM 1. But then I later went back
and checked the port setting, and it was again at none. This time i set it
COM 1, and it worked. So i'm guessing (The only thinig I can think of),
when I installed the new emulator, it reset the COM settings to none. Why
the settings didn't stay in is beyond my grasp. The same thing just
happened again. I checked the 3.0a6 emulator, the settings were correct,
COM 1. The then closed that one, and opened up 3.0a7. The setting there
was COM 1. But when I close the 3.0a7 emulator, and open the 3.0a6
emulator, the settings revert back to none.
But I am using Win98, emulating a IIIe with 8mb using the 3.5dr4 en none ez
rom. I'm not seing anything, just I realized something was wrong when
programs that work, and use the serial port, no longer worked. I reproduce
the problems by using 3.0a6, setting the com port, closing it. Open 3.0a7,
check the com port (still the same) and close it. Open the 3.0a6 back up,
and the com port returns to none.
Maybe this always happens (Switching between emulators changes the COM port
to none), but it messed me up for a while. if you can reporduce it, or tell
me its supposed to happen, I will feel better knowing i didn't toast another
computer. Thanks
