        There's a certain company in Redmond who does this all the time
as a matter of business practice! 

        Why? They release an "idea" on paper and to the press to drum up
some conversation about what Product2000 will do based on their public
claims at press-release time. 

        They then take those suggestions and ideas and *THEN* begin to
code Product2000. After many initial announcements of new products slated
to be released "soon", there actually has been *ZERO* development done on
that product *AT ALL* at public press-release time. I know this because I
have known developers that work(ed) there who are told specifically to
skim the mailing lists and such to find and document proposed feature sets
that *WILL BE INCLUDED* in the product.

        Ok, this was way off-palm, so...
