Also Constructer seems to be determined to give all my

To narrow the color list to 1-bit, open the bitmap to edit it. Then on the
menu bar choose Colors-Black and White. Then you will only have those
colors available to you when you are working with this bitmap.
As far as a limit on bitmap size, I can't help. I would be surprised if it
could handle bitmaps larger than the 160x160 screen size.
