It's really simple: since you don't know the hotsync IDs upfront, you can't
tie the registration codes to them.
Just product a bunch of codes that unlock the product and there you go! Of
course, any of those will unlock any product out there, but that's the price
to pay for willing to generate them upfront.
Aaron says he'll be taking a session regarding protection (which is closely
related to registration) issues at PalmSource, he would probably address the
issue as well.

Can someone please explain to me how you generate a batch
of valid registration codes for an app? I can't wrap my
head around this. I currently use REGCODE to generate a
code based on the HOTSYNCID of the user. Since that's
the seed to the process, I'm not sure how to do that in advance
when you don't have the HOTSYNCID of the Palm.
