I use a Symbol 1700 ROM downloaded from a device. It works for me. That is,
the Symbol 1700 menu item shows up in the device menu, and I can successfully
create the new session and boot the ROM.

ahhhhhhh,...... ok. thx! BUT, NOW i can't use a symbol rom that i've been
using before. what i'm trying to use is a symbol 1700 or 1740 so its their
rom i am trying to use. anyone else ran into this ? if not, where'd the
rom come from?
