Adding to that...
I've had some problems with some of the ROMs downloaded from Symbol's
web page when I've plugged them into POSE. I'm not sure exactly why
this is, but as Keith states, if you dump a ROM from your 1700, you'll
have much better luck. I can even use a custom ROM (loaded with a
couple of our own apps and a shared library) in POSE and have no problems
with it. I've flashed a 1700 with Symbol's ROM file, dumped it down, and
it worked. (even let me load the correct skin and everything)
The only semi-discouraging thing that happens is when the scanner
hardware initializes, POSE will bark at you a couple of times, since
it doesn't have a scanner...just click through it and ignore it.
