Well - I was involved in the beta testing of ScoutBuilder - and I have to
say that it is shaping up to be a great RAD tool. I got the release version
posted to me a couple of days ago but have not had a chance to play with it
yet so I can't tell you how buggy it is/isn't but the final couple of beta
releases were not too bad - certainly smoother to use than CW, but I don't
really use SF so can't comment on that. I think that buggy development
tools are par for the course though for PalmOS developers using windows.
Gary has a point about there not being a lot of comparitive literature out
there but FWIW, we ran quite a few benchmarking tests on large databases
comparing SF, SB and CW - and it certainly did compare very favourably, even
against CW.
The only caveat is that, like SF, it uses it's own proprietry databases, and
so may not be compatible with hotsync conduits, and you may be forced to
create conduits using ScoutSync - but I could be wrong. The beta also did
not have a source level debugger which made life difficult - but the coding
is just so simple (VB like language) that you almost forget what a debugger
is for.
I am sure that aether will have a demo for you to download dex and that
should give you a better feel for the product..
