As an example of misinformation getting propagated, this statement
appears on that page:
"Recovery from this virus is possible by resetting your Palm and
restoring its
contents from a backup. Please note that by default Palms do not backup
applications, only data. Sophos recommends that users keep a backup of
their Palm applications as well as data."
This of course is completely wrong. Palms backup all things with the
backup bit set, and proper Palm software development (including Platinum
certification) specifies that the backup bit should be set on the
application, so in fact applications ARE backed up by default.
And, of course, the opposite is also true. It is entirely possible to
have an applications without a conduit which create data on the Palm
which does NOT set the backup bit on the database, and as a result the
data for such applications is NOT backed up.
