If it redraws the same dialog box, it means that Poser can't find a debugger to
talk to. It tries making a connection or sending a message and fails. By
redrawing the dialog box, you are allowed the opportunity to start up a debugger
such as PalmDebugger or debuffer and click on the Debug button again.

I don't think that CW supports JIT debugging for applications, so this mechanism
doesn't work with that debugger. You pretty much have to start the debugging
session from within the IDE. However, I expect that that *is* what you're
doing, so I can't really explain why the communications are failing.

It very well could. I was getting evidence that the CW debugger had a timeout
of around 300 milliseconds in its communications. Getting a faster computer
will lead to faster emulation leading to faster turnaround time in
communications leading to fewer timeouts.

A 150Mhz Pentium II? Wow...I was beginning to feel out-of-date with my dual 500
MHz PIII system...

Well, yes, but on 3.0a7! I was about to write in this morning about it. Nine
times out of ten when I try to run I get the 'Failed to connect to remote'
message. The log window shows:

CmdReadRemoteMem: error in SlkReceivePacket =
Serial Link timeout.
Trying to Read address 0x0

Sometimes it won't connect at all, I have to exit the emulator and re-start it
and it *seems* a little better, but still *very* flaky. This is a huge waste
of time, and has brought my development to a crawl.

Also, the 'Debug' button in the 'PalmOS Emulator' crashed dialog *never* works.
It usually just re-draws the same dialog box.

I'm running Win98, CW6 with update 1 and Pose 3.0a7 on a 150Mhz Pentium II. I
just ordered a 750Mhz machine, thinking the 'slow' processor might be part of
the problem. At least it should speed up the constant re-loads.
