AFAIK there is a simple system command to modify each of the 256 colour
indexes to be a different 12 bit colour. Only problem is getting the bitmap
data into your app in that case, which is probably what you've been saying
all along 8-)
Can't you just generate the bitmap dynamically on the Palm?
