Steve,
I used a horizontal scrollbar in a little hex dump tool I wrote.
It seemed to work fine on 3.5, and looked cool too, but I
found it didn't draw correctly on 3.0x. If compatibility with
pre-3.5 is important, you might want to check this out before
you get too far into it.
As far as scrolling fields in a table, I've no experience with
that, but I thought I'd warn you about the scroll bar.
