Okay, I just tested this out, and didn't find the problem that you are
talking about.  Here is what I did (on my WinNT machine), so if I didn't
do what you did, you can let me know what I need to do differently.

I took a source file and added a bunch of "test" comments.  Then I
selected some part of the source file that included some, (more than one,
but not all) of these comments.  Then I typed ctrl-H to pull up the
Replace window.  I told it to find "test" and replace it with "TEST",
checked the box for Search Selection Only, and clicked Replace All.  As I
would expect, all the instances of "test" were changed to "TEST" inside my
selection, but they were left alone outside of my selection.

If this is exactly what you did, let me know what OS you're working on, as
this bug may be limited to a single OS.
