I wasted a couple of days on this exact same misunderstanding of the
documentation.  I hope that Palm makes the usage of the Progress Dialog more
clear in future versions of the reference manual and companion guide.  If
you add up the time all developers waste trying to figure it out, it would
dwarf the effort Palm would need to expend on improving the explanation.
