Depends what you understand by "database". As used in the Palm
documentation, a database is managed memory split up into records. The
records have no internal structure, except what you give them - there
are no equivalents of fields, queries etc unless you write them. It is
quite possible for each record in a Palm database to have something
completely different in it (eg some strings in one record, a bitmap in
the next, and so on).
If you want something like a desktop or server database, then you need a
3rd party tool like HanDBase, JFile, MobileDB etc. Many development
tools like NSBasic, CASL and so on, make working with Palm databases
easier. Accessing the Palm Data Manager APIs is not that hard though (eg
in CodeWarrior or PocketStudio).
