Well, I have seen signs that palm is slowing down, even in the US. A year ago the
contract process took about one week. Currently,
it takes about 3-4 weeks. But to be fair, I'm amazed a company Palm's size can deal
with 100,000 developers. But then again, they
seem to have specific contacts for European developers, and I don't know to what
degree this is internally a separate division..

Alternate sources are always good - for example, buying Codewarrior from Metrowerks
instead of from Palm will save you a LOT of
time. I got mine in less than 24 hours going the direct route.

But as for core Palm response, if you feel stretched to the limit, have you had any
better luck with phone calls?
(http://www.palm.com/intl/Europe-support.html) Or is the main problem all come down
to the contracts - that is, waiting for Palm
to internally register your contract and give you a response?

Again, I'm not saying you don't have a real problem here (losing direct web access to
many things is a bummer), but try to hit all
the indirect methods you can. For example, debug your program on Handspring devices
until you can finally get the Palm ROMs, etc.

As a developer, I automatically go the path of least resistance. In the US, Palm for
me has the least resistance, and so that is my
home base. But if in Europe other companies are easier to work with, make them your
primary focus.
