Here's my proposal for future Palm OS support:
Level 1 (free)
- palm-dev-forum
- Emulator (but provide your own ROM)
- KnowledgeBase of FAQs etc
Level 2 (administrative cost, say US $100 p.a.)
- seeding programs
- newsletters
- source code
- debug and seeding ROMs
- access to internal error tracking
- access to Q&A forum
This is how I see the Q&A forum working. Anybody that pays for Level 2
access can post a query for free. The query could be answered by Palm
support staff or peers. All activity is visible (no private answers) and
fully searchable. All contributions are rated. At some stage, Palm may
nominate some of the more active contributors as "experts". These "experts"
would receive some nominal fixed payment from Palm (say $1000-$5000 p.a.)
and may be invited to HQ to meet with Palm and discuss support issues,
future directions etc.
Third-party
- fee for service (quotes for answers to specific queries or projects)
