I just pawed through this, and didn't happen to see anything
related to the question I have, which is:
What changed in the Palm-side OS4 code which makes it complain
that any desktop conduit I use to sync to it is "incompatible"
with regard to the password and encryption?
If I have a password set on the device, and sync to the desktop
(using Palm Desktop 4.0 or earlier, Chapura's conduit, Vindigo,
pilot-link, jpilot, ColdSync, gnome-pilot, etc.) the hotsync window will
pop up for a split second, then go away, and the Palm will immediately
stop with an Alert which says
"The desktop HotSync software does not support the
password on this handheld. You must upgrade your desktop software
or remove the password from the handheld".
Neither option is really desirable in this case.
If I remove the password, all works fine. Boggle.
I'll poke through the SDK and see what I can find, but any
suggestions would be welcome. I've cross-posted this to conduit-dev as
well. Perhaps they have some ideas. This would be a pretty big
show-stopper for those people who use these conduits and desktop data
integration apps.
