I have the same configuration on my laptop, and I've not seen that
error. Is the error message window appearing as a CodeWarrior window or
a POSE window? It looks like a format string for a printf but going
through a different path that doesn't do the value substitution.

If you could, would you go to your Palm Debugger Settings (in
Edit/Preferences) and do an XML export using the export button. Do the
same for your project's settings and send that in. We want to try to
reproduce this as soon as possible.
