Sort of OT for this forum, but that rarely matters. Since its the weekend,
I'll venture an opinion...
I think the folks at Palm are smart enough to realize that one of their
greatest strengths is the simplicity of Palm OS devices. It rarely takes
more than 2 or 3 taps to get any single thing done. So, although new
functionality is inevitable, I think they will carry this philosophy forward
as the OS evolves and new devices are created.
PocketPC (WinCE) started with the goal of compressing a desktop OS down to
fit on a handheld, so the same level of simplicity is not available.
If Palm just morphed it's OS into a PocketPC clone, there would no reason to
buy a Palm device. So, even though Palm faces obvious challenges ahead,
morphing into a CE unit is not very likely.
